Astana Schools to Receive Inclusive Support Rooms, Thanks to Charity Marathon Funds
In a move to promote inclusive education and support for students with special needs, Astana schools will soon be equipped with 10 inclusion support rooms. These specialized rooms are the result of the successful Charity Samruk Marathon 2025, an event organized by a foundation associated with Samruk, a major entity in Kazakhstan supporting charitable initiatives [1].
The marathon, which garnered community participation and support from partners like KIPA store, raised funds to create these inclusion rooms in schools No.23, 29, 48, 54, 60, 71, 83, 91, 96, and 98 [2]. Each room, at least 60 square meters in size, will include zones for a defectologist, speech therapist, psychologist, and a pottery workshop, among other resources. Additionally, a separate room for therapeutic physical education with modern sports equipment will be provided [2].
The inclusion rooms operate in an open space format, designed to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Repair and construction work for these rooms are currently underway, with teachers and specialists undergoing training throughout the year to ensure they are well-equipped to support students with special needs [3].
This initiative is expected to cover inclusive education for 535 children, with approximately 40% of special needs students in the city set to benefit from these inclusion rooms. The project also receives funding from the Samruk-Kazyna Trust, with part of the budget coming from the trust itself and part from the funds raised during the marathon [1][2].
It's worth noting that this is not the first time Samruk-Kazyna Trust has supported such initiatives. Previously, similar rooms were opened in 11 schools in the capital, five of which were funded by last year's charity marathon. The Trust is also planning to open 9 rehabilitation centers, including mixed-model centers named "Ainala," by the end of the year, demonstrating a broader commitment to disability support and rehabilitation beyond the schools [4][5].
