Art lectures scheduled to commence at Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center, commencing August 13, with no fees required.

In the heart of Covington, Kentucky, the historic ballroom of the Baker Hunt "Scudder House" will once again echo with the exchange of ideas as the Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center hosts a new free lecture series in 2025. This three-part event series promises to enlighten and engage the community on a variety of topics, from art and business to history and culture.

The series kicks off on August 13 with "Anyone Can Be a Chair Maker," presented by Chris Schwarz from Lost Art Press. In this lecture, Schwarz will show off a 300-year-old chair and use it to assemble a basic chair on stage, offering a unique blend of history and hands-on demonstration.

On August 20, Patrick Hughes from DBL Law will take the stage for "Business Practices for the Artist." Hughes will discuss entity selection, governance, liability protections, banking, and taxes for artists, providing valuable insights for those seeking to turn their passion into a profitable venture.

The final lecture, scheduled for August 27, is titled "The Underground Railroad and the Power of Religion in Northern Kentucky." Dr. Eric Jackson from Northern Kentucky University will present this lecture, delving into the role of religion in the Underground Railroad and how churches and faith leaders provided sanctuary, moral guidance, and networks of resistance during this crucial period in American history.

Each lecture in the series will feature a new speaker and topic, making it an exciting opportunity for lifelong learners. The events are free and open to the public, but registration is required due to limited seating. To register for the August 27 lecture, visit www.bakerhunt.org.

A cash bar with drinks and snacks will be available for purchase during the events, adding a touch of comfort and camaraderie to the evening.
