**AI Set to Reshape India's Coaching Class Landscape**

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur's recent observation about India's coaching class industry has sparked a broader conversation about the future of education, job readiness, and formal certification. Kapur argues that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is poised to disrupt the coaching class industry completely.

The Indian coaching class sector, worth over $25 billion, is deeply entrenched, driven primarily by competition for admissions to elite institutions like IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) and IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management). However, its largely informal and unregulated nature has been a cause for concern.

Kapur noted a high number of coaching center signboards, many of them situated above restaurants, as a visual metaphor for the informal, largely unregulated education sector in India. He observed that AI can deliver high-quality education at home, often at a lower cost than physical coaching centers.

AI-powered platforms offer personalised learning, instant feedback, and access to a vast array of resources, which could reduce reliance on brick-and-mortar coaching. However, Kapur notes a critical limitation: AI currently cannot provide the formal certificates that remain essential for job applications in India’s certification-driven market.

While AI promises democratisation and affordability, its adoption faces hurdles. Many Indian families still value the structure, discipline, and social validation offered by physical coaching centers. The lack of formal AI-issued credentials is a significant barrier in a market where certificates are gatekeepers for employment and higher education.

The future may see a hybrid model, where AI supplements (but does not wholly replace) traditional coaching, especially for exam preparation and credential-oriented outcomes. Effective regulation, digital inclusion, and a shift in employer attitudes toward skills over certificates will be key to realising AI’s full potential in this space.

In other news, the AIIMS CRE 2025 Registration is currently open for Group B and C posts on aiimsexams.ac.in. The US visa bulletin for August shows progress for EB-5 applicants and Indian skilled workers.

  1. Artificial Intelligence (AI) could revolutionize India's education and self-development landscape, particularly in the realm of education and learning, by offering personalized and cost-effective solutions, potentially challenging the dominance of the physical coaching market.
  2. The deployment of artificial intelligence in the finance sector could pave the way for innovative financial products and services, as AI's ability to deliver high-quality education at home could translate into a more technologically advanced and efficient workforce, thereby bolstering the Indian market.
  3. In both the education-and-self-development and finance realms, the integration of artificial intelligence could foster a new wave of innovation, further strengthening India's position at the forefront of the global defi and technology market, particularly when addressing issues related to learning and job readiness.
