Australian Cybersecurity Games to take place at UNSW

The Australian Cybersecurity Games, a nationwide competition, is set to take place between September 2-30, 2024. This event, organised by SECedu, an Australian network of educators and cybersecurity professionals, aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and skill development among students pursuing careers in cybersecurity.

The games provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and learn from industry experts. SECedu, a partnership between UNSW Sydney and Commonwealth Bank, is collaborating with leading cybersecurity employers to develop the workforce for tomorrow.

The University of New South Wales (UNSW) will host the games, and participants from various universities across Australia will compete. These include students from Canberra Institute of Technology, Edith Cowan University, Griffith University, Macquarie University, Monash University, University of Melbourne, University of Tasmania, UNSW, Western Sydney University, and The University of Queensland.

The Australian Cybersecurity Games emphasise the importance of cybersecurity education and aim to encourage students to expand their knowledge and creativity. Participants will engage in various functions that simulate real-world cybersecurity scenarios, including cryptography, network security, and web vulnerabilities.

SECedu Directors and UNSW Professor Richard Buckland are excited to host the games, which aim to allow students to network with peers and professionals. Participating in these cybersecurity competitions, according to SECedu Monash Lead Professor Nigel Phair, secures students' future careers and safeguards the country's digital assets.

The games aim to give students an opportunity to grow individually and contribute to national security. SECedu is committed to fostering the next generation of cybersecurity professionals and is looking forward to the 2024 Australian Cybersecurity Games.

Students interested in participating can register for the games on the SECedu Conference website. For the latest updates and more information, stay tuned.
