Austrian family sought tranquility in Belarus, now departing for Germany

In a bid for a simpler, peaceful life, an Austrian family named Anna and Patrick, along with their two daughters aged 2.5 and 7.5, moved to the village of Ogorodniki under Slutsk in Belarus. However, the family's journey took an unexpected turn as they faced a series of challenges that eventually led them to decide on moving to Germany.

Upon settling in Belarus, the family purchased an old house in Ogorodniki and undertook a complete renovation. The renovation included constructing a mansard, adding a veranda, and installing new electrical wiring. Despite their efforts, the family found themselves struggling with the country's political climate and economic instability.

Belarus, under the Lukashenka regime, is known for severe political repression and human rights issues, creating an unstable and risky environment, especially for foreigners. The cultural and linguistic barriers also posed hurdles, with foreign families like Anna and Patrick feeling excluded or isolated due to language differences and cultural divides.

Patrick, with his limited language skills, found it difficult to secure suitable employment. The family's vegan dessert business, which they hoped would provide a stable income, unfortunately did not thrive due to the lack of vegan food products in the region.

The family's financial situation became increasingly precarious, with income instability being a significant challenge. In light of these difficulties, the family began considering moving to Germany, where a family member needed care. Anna's mother-in-law even suggested combining efforts to buy a shared house in Germany.

The news about their move was reported by Slutsk.gorod. The family's decision was influenced by Germany's economic opportunities and political stability, factors that Belarus currently lacks. Despite the challenges of bureaucracy and high living costs in Germany, the family believed it offered a more secure foundation for their family life.

As they prepare for their move to a rural area in Germany, the family plans to buy a house and start renovations. They look forward to being close to their loved ones in Germany and building a more stable life for their family.

  1. The family's financial struggles in Belarus led them to consider investing in real estate in Germany for a more secure lifestyle.
  2. Due to the instability in Belarus' housing market and the lack of suitable employment opportunities for Patrick, the family decided to focus on career development by moving to Germany.
  3. In Belarus, the family's vegan dessert business encountered challenges due to the limited lifestyle preferences in the region, prompting them to explore education and self-development opportunities in Germany.
  4. As the family faces challenges with family-dynamics in Belarus due to the linguistic and cultural barriers, they hope for stronger relationships with their family members in Germany.
  5. The family's move from Belarus to Germany is expected to have a significant impact on their quality of life, offering a stable foundation for housing, career, education, and personal relationships.
