Belarus' Teachers: Predominantly Women, Experienced, and Well-Educated

In Belarus, the average teacher is a 43.4-year-old woman with over a decade of experience. The teaching profession is dominated by women, who make up 87.6% of educators, while men account for only 38%.

The typical Belarusian teacher holds a higher education qualification, with 93.1% meeting this criterion. Women overwhelmingly teach Russian, Belarusian, foreign languages, and sciences. Men, who teach in just 38% of cases, contribute to a diverse range of subjects.

Teachers in Belarus have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 11:1, with higher ratios in cities and lower in rural areas. The sector employs approximately 102,300 teachers, with women filling about 62% of these positions.

Belarusian teachers earn an average of Br2146.2 per month after taxes, a 23% increase from the previous year. The average salary before deductions is Br2495.6. The teaching workforce is experienced, with 69.5% having about 15 years of service.
