Berlin's 'Irrationality' Exhibition Draws Crowds Despite Controversy
A thought-provoking exhibition, 'The Possibility of Irrationality', has opened at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin Mitte. Curated by Jan Boehmann and his 'Royal Group', the show is an expansion of Boehmann's tv shows and features interactive elements, notable exhibits, and a €15 entrance fee.
The exhibition, running until October 19th, includes a giant inflatable Statue of Liberty submerged in the pond in front of the HKW, symbolizing the current state of US democracy. Notable items on display range from a Donald Trump-branded hair conditioner to rabbit-embroidered hand towels from René Benko's Villa Ansaldi, and the office punching bag of former Wirecard manager Jan Marsalek.
Visitors can engage with interactive displays, such as watching Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz at work through a telescope. However, the exhibition has faced challenges. Rapper Chefket was originally scheduled to perform but was uninvited due to potential anti-Semitic content in his past statements, leading to the loss of the entire concerts near me program.
Jan Boehmann, known for his critical stance against former US President Donald Trump on his weekly late-night jon stewart, greets guests in casual attire and leads them through the exhibition. Despite the loss of the concert program, the exhibition continues to draw visitors, who pay a €15 entrance fee to explore the themes of irrationality and critical thinking.
