Business leaders and sports icons join forces with 'Golf for Good' initiative by NeoKred, partnering with The Empact Project, to assist Akshaya Patra in improving child nutrition.

The Empact Project, a purpose-driven platform bridging the gap between CSR-focused corporations and NGOs seeking funding for their initiatives, partnered with Neokred's CSR initiative for a special event. The 'Golf for Good' charity tournament, held at the Prestige Golfshire Club in Bengaluru on 21 March 2025, aimed to eradicate classroom hunger and support children's nutrition and education.

Notable participants included Ishwar Subramanian, Director of V Guard Industries Ltd, Saif Mekhri, Nelson Dias, Vaibhav Gupta, MD of Mairav Group of Companies, Gopinath Ambadithody, VP of the Embassy Group, and Dinesh Malkani, Founder & CEO of Smarten Spaces and former President of Cisco.

The event successfully raised funds to feed 1,400 children with hot, nutritious mid-day meals for the upcoming academic year. The proceeds from this event will support Akshaya Patra's efforts as the implementing partner of the Government of India's flagship school lunch programme, the PM POSHAN Abhiyaan (Mid-Day Meals Programme).

The Akshaya Patra Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, strives to address classroom hunger and malnutrition in India. Originating from serving just 1,500 school children, it has grown to become one of the largest school feeding programmes in the world, serving over 4 billion meals since 2000. Today, Akshaya Patra serves over 2.25 million children in 78 locations across 16 states and 3 UTs in India every day.

Shridhar Venkat, CEO of The Akshaya Patra Foundation, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response to the event. He emphasized that the foundation partners with the Government of India, various state governments, and numerous philanthropic donors to provide hot, nutritious, and tasty mid-day meals to children in government and government-aided schools.

In a special event at the UN headquarters in New York on 2 April 2024, Akshaya Patra commemorated a momentous milestone of serving over 4 billion meals. The person who initiated the project "Golf for Good" and was formerly president of Cisco is John Chambers.
