Kamala Harris, the former Vice President of the United States, has penned a book titled "107 Days" that offers a candid account of her 2024 presidential campaign. The book, released post her election loss to Donald Trump, delves into the highs and lows of her journey.

Harris' campaign was marked by strategic decisions and personal relationships. For instance, she was tasked with preparing for potential crises by her mentor, Joe West, who left the preparation in her capable hands. Similarly, after a second assassination attempt, Harris had a conversation with Donald Trump, during which the former President flattered her and expressed that his daughter Ivanka was a fan of hers.

During the campaign, Harris sought the advice of a professional voice coach who encouraged her to make animal noises during her convention speech warm-up. This unconventional method, however, did not make it to the final speech.

Harris' relationship with Biden was not always smooth sailing. At times, she had concerns about his ability to serve as president, but chose not to express them publicly. Despite this, she eventually endorsed Biden after his reelection campaign ended, a decision she initially resisted.

Harris' first choice for her running mate was Pete Buttigieg, the current transportation secretary. However, she had concerns that choosing a gay candidate might be too risky, given her bid to become the first Black woman president. Ultimately, Minnesota's governor, Tim Walz, was chosen as her running mate.

The book also details some of the mistakes Harris made during her campaign. One such instance was her appearance on "The View" talk show, where she struggled to think of anything she would have done differently than Joe Biden during the previous four years. This performance was widely seen as damaging to her campaign.

Harris also had a strained relationship with Joe Biden at times, as evidenced by an instance where she was upset when he called her to discuss criticism he had received from Philadelphia power brokers.

Intriguingly, Harris' book only makes one reference to California's governor, Gavin Newsom. Newsom never returned Harris' call after she reached out to him after Biden ended his reelection campaign.

The book was written in a candid and open manner, shedding light on the inner workings of Harris' campaign. One notable aspect was the preparation made by Tony West, Harris' brother-in-law and a former top Justice Department official, known as the "Red File," in case something happened to Biden.

Despite the candid nature of the book, there are no specific individuals named as potential vice presidential candidates, and no public information suggests that Harris considered Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania's governor, for the role. The search results contain no details about Harris' considerations for a vice presidency or her decision to choose Tim Walz as her running mate.

Joe Biden's team appeared to be in denial after he performed poorly in a debate with Donald Trump. Harris, however, remained resilient, continuing to fight until the end of the campaign.

The book offers a fascinating insight into Harris' campaign, her decisions, and her relationships. It serves as a testament to her determination and resilience in the face of adversity. Despite the election outcome, Harris' book is a must-read for anyone interested in understanding the intricacies of a presidential campaign.
