The Bar Council of India (BCI) has granted approval to the newly established Chandigarh University in Uttar Pradesh to commence law programs from the 2025 academic session. The university will offer 120 seats in LL.B and 240 seats in five-year integrated law programs. The BCI recently issued an approval letter to Chandigarh University in Uttar Pradesh in this regard.

Chandigarh University, recognized as India's first AI-augmented multidisciplinary university, has ventured into the legal education landscape with this approval. The School of Legal Studies at the university will offer three comprehensive programs: BA LL.B (Hons), BBA LL.B (Hons), and the three-year LL.B. The curriculum covers key areas such as Criminal Laws, Civil Laws, Taxation Laws, Corporate Laws, International Arbitration, Cyber Laws, IT Laws, and E-Commerce Laws. The university aims to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools like Lexis Nexis, Evernote, and AI Lawyer into the legal studies curriculum to prepare students for the evolving legal sectors.

Dr. Abhishek Kumar Singh, an Associate Professor with over 12 years of legal academic experience, has joined as the academic head of the School of Legal Studies at Chandigarh University Uttar Pradesh. Dr. Singh, who holds an LL.B (Hons), LL.M., and a Ph.D. in Cyber Crime, emphasized on the dynamic transformation underway in the legal profession.
