Cobb County's Kennedy Wins Tech Award for Pandemic LMS

Cristin Kennedy, Director of Instructional Technology at Cobb County Schools, has been honoured with the Best Overall Implementation of Technology award at Tech & Learning's Innovative Leader Awards. Her team's work in developing a personalised Learning Management System (LMS) for over 100,000 students during the pandemic has been recognised.

When Cobb County Schools went fully remote in the 2020-21 school year, Kennedy and her team stepped up to meet the challenge. They created an LMS that catered to the needs of students, parents, and teachers alike, offering features for instruction, planning, assessment, and communication. The system was a lifeline, ensuring learning continuity during the pandemic.

To support this initiative, the district provided devices to middle and high school students. Plans are in place to equip every classroom with 2-in-1 laptops for the future. Kennedy's team also organised specialised professional learning for teachers to ensure they could make the most of the new technology.

Kennedy's leadership and her team's efforts have resulted in a robust LMS that has served Cobb County Schools well during the pandemic. Their award-winning work has not only facilitated remote learning but also set the district up for a tech-enabled future.
