Bangladesh Junior Science Olympiad 2025: Regional Rounds Kick Off Nationwide Search for Top Students

The Bangladesh Junior Science Olympiad (BdJSO) 2025, a nationwide competition aimed at identifying and nurturing talented junior-level students in science, has commenced with regional rounds in cities like Khulna and Rajshahi.

The regional rounds, an integral part of the BdJSO selection process, began at 9:00 am in Khulna, involving students, administrators, bankers, and educators. Simultaneously, the Rajshahi Education Board Government Model School & College hosted a written test and Q&A sessions for students at 8:30 am.

Following the regional rounds, approximately 60 top-performing students will be selected to attend the BdJSO Camp. This camp provides intensive training and a rigorous selection environment, serving as the national round for the competition. The camp's purpose is to prepare the students for the subsequent International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).

The top six performers from the BdJSO Camp will represent Bangladesh at the 22nd IJSO, scheduled in Russia in December 2025. The BdJSO primarily targets students in Classes 6 to 8, aligning with the age group eligible for IJSO participation.

The selection process emphasizes chemistry, biology, and other science disciplines relevant to the Olympiad syllabus. Regional toppers in Rajshahi were recognized with medals and certificates, while awards were given to winners in the 12, 22, and 27 categories in Khulna.

The BdJSO is organised by the Bangladesh Society for the Popularisation of Science and the Bangladesh STEM Foundation, with Al-Arafah Islami Bank as the title sponsor.

In short, the BdJSO 2025 pathway is:

  1. Regional rounds to select the best candidates
  2. National BdJSO Camp with training and final selection of the top students
  3. Representation of Bangladesh by six selected students at the IJSO in Russia, December 2025

Detailed exam patterns or other national-level event formats specific to BdJSO 2025 beyond these were not available in the sources, but training sessions and preparatory content focus on subjects like chemistry and biology.

Students participating in the science-oriented Bangladesh Junior Science Olympiad (BdJSO) 2025 can delve deeper into their learning of science-related topics through the BdJSO Camp, which offers intensive training and serves as the national round for the competition. Additionally, education-and-self-development opportunities abound as the successful completion of the BdJSO has the potential for students to represent their country in the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO).
