Council of Medical and Dental Education in Pakistan refutes allegations of an increase in fees by 80% for MDCAT 2025.

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced the commencement of registration for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025. Contrary to some reports, the council has clarified that the MDCAT 2025 fee has not been increased by 80%, but by 12.5%, from Rs8,000 in 2024 to Rs9,000 in 2025.

The fee adjustment was made at the request of the universities conducting the exam to cover rising costs, including printing, enhanced security, administrative and logistical arrangements, payments for invigilators and staff, and ensuring adequate facilities both nationally and internationally.

The MDCAT 2025 will not be conducted by the PMDC itself, but by universities nominated by federal and provincial authorities. The uniform syllabus for the MDCAT 2025 was prepared in consultation with all stakeholders, along with a question bank based on the consensus curriculum of all provinces.

The MDCAT 2025 is scheduled to be held on Sunday, October 5. The test will be conducted by the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, Sukkur IBA University, Khyber Medical University, Peshawar, Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, Quetta, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad for Islamabad Capital Territory, universities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and PMDC's international venue in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The PMDC remains committed to keeping the MDCAT fee affordable while maintaining quality and transparency, upholding merit-based admissions, and ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates. Despite high inflation and increased expenses, the council stated that it has kept the MDCAT fee increase modest.

Over the past years, the MDCAT fee has increased modestly and gradually. The council dismissed claims that the MDCAT 2025 fee had been increased by 80%. The MDCAT question bank is based on a uniform syllabus, ensuring fairness and consistency in the exam for all candidates.

Candidates interested in registering for the MDCAT 2025 can do so now. The council encourages all eligible candidates to prepare thoroughly and take advantage of the resources available to them to achieve their dreams of becoming medical professionals.

The MDCAT fee increase, while modest, has been made to cater to increased costs in various sectors, such as printing, security, administration, and logistics, to ensure a high-quality and transparent exam. The uniform syllabus for MDCAT 2025, crafted with input from all stakeholders, paves the way for fair and consistent medical-conditions evaluation. Candidates desiring health-and-wellness and education-and-self-development opportunities can enroll for MDCAT 2025, with the PMDC providing resources to aid in their journey towards becoming medical professionals.
