Colorado State University's Off-Campus Life department has evolved significantly since its inception in the 1980s, now serving as a vital resource for students. The department, based at the Lory Student Center, supports 21,155 students annually in finding safe, stable, and high-quality off-campus housing. This is crucial for academic success, as CSU considers stable housing a prerequisite for student achievement, guided by Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

Off-Campus Life has expanded its reach through partnerships with the City of Fort Collins and the addition of the RamRide program. The department helps students navigate challenges like rising housing costs and limited rental access by connecting them with resources for financial stability and basic needs. It produces an annual Off-Campus Living Handbook, co-written with the city, providing guidance for students.

CSU offers Housing Fairs and family programs to connect students with property managers as they transition to off-campus living. The department's mission is to ensure students have access to safe, stable, and high-quality off-campus housing. It supports students through various programs, office visits, and online resource access.
