CUSTOMS Kicks Off Training Programs for 1,700 Young People
The German Customs Administration (CUSTOMS) has initiated its higher and middle service training programs, with over 1,700 young people commencing this year. The programs provide a mix of practical and theoretical learning, leading to professional titles and academic degrees.
The middle service training lasts two years and results in the professional title of tax administrator. Trainees in administrative informatics, who began their dual study on September 1, 2025, will complete their practical phases in diverse IT areas of the General Customs Directorate and in digital forensics at customs offices or investigation offices. Both dual study programs, lasting three years each, culminate in a 'Bachelor of Law' (LL.B.; CUSTOMS) or 'Bachelor of Science' (B.Sc.; administrative informatics) degree.
Upon completion, the CUSTOMS takes over all suitable junior staff. Trainees can expect a wide range of tasks, including case processing, special units, undeclared work control, customs investigation, digital forensics, digitization, project work, and database care. Theoretical parts of the higher service are completed at the Federal Administration Academy in Münster, while the middle service is taught at the training centers of the Education and Science Center of the Federal Finance Administration in various locations.
Interested parties can apply for a start on September 1, 2026, until October 15, 2025, at the Main Customs Office Aachen or the General Customs Directorate. The CUSTOMS offers a promising career path with diverse opportunities for young professionals.
