Deadline Approaching for the Essen Environment Prize 2025: Submit Your Proposals by October 15th!
The city of Essen is inviting applications for the 18th Essen Environmental Prize, scheduled to be awarded on September 15, 2025, with the award ceremony following in December of the same year. This prestigious award seeks to recognise innovative ideas and commitment to environmental and climate protection.
Projects must have been implemented within the last two years, and current measures must be completed by the end of January 2026. The focus for the 2025 awards is on social aspects, with the aim to showcase projects that offer a social benefit and improve the quality of life locally.
The city portal is particularly interested in social projects with a focus on environment and climate, including those by and/or with young people, seniors, refugees, and disadvantaged groups. School and kindergarten projects on the topics of environment and climate are also eligible for the awards.
For the special prize "Fairtrade", the city portal is looking for projects and activities on fair trade that encourage imitation and/or connect fair trade with other topics like gender equality or diversity. BIB - BANK IM BISTUM ESSEN eG is donating 10,000 euros in prize money for 2025, and the city administration is awarding a 2,000 euro endowed special prize "Fairtrade 2025".
The total prize money for the awards is 12,000 euros. The jury, which includes representatives from the city administration, EWG - Essener Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft mbH, Ehrenamtsagentur, politics, media, and BANK IM BISTUM ESSEN eG as the sponsor, will evaluate entries for the competition.
