DLR & TU Brunswick Host Summer School for Aspiring Aviators

The German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Institute of Flight Systems (IFF) of the Technical University of Brunswick are hosting the DLR_Uni_Summer_School from September 10th to 14th, 2018. This event offers over 30 students from across Germany a unique chance to explore aviation through practical flight trials.

The summer school provides a behind-the-scenes look at the many institutes of DLR and the TU Braunschweig at the Research Airport Brunswick-Wolfsburg. Students will gain hands-on experience with the Dornier Do 128-6 aircraft, registration 'D-IBUF', which has been in service with the Institute of Flight Systems for over 30 years. The University of Stuttgart provided this research aircraft for the event.

The Dornier Do 128-6 is equipped with a workstation for the flight test engineer and three individual measurement stations for the students. During flight trials, students will collect and analyze data on flight characteristics and performance. This practical approach helps students connect their theoretical knowledge with real-world experience.

Supported by several renowned universities, the DLR_Uni_Summer_School aims to introduce students to new aspects of aviation. By actively participating in flight trials, students will gain valuable insights into the field, making this event an excellent opportunity for aspiring aviation professionals.
