Essen's 'Ehrenamtsstipendium für junge Engagierte' Now Open for Applications

Essen's 'Ehrenamtsstipendium für junge Engagierte' Now Open for Applications

Essen's 'Ehrenamtsstipendium für junge Engagierte' opens for applications from 1 May to 31 October 2025. This stipend supports young volunteers, aged 18 to 27, who balance education or studies with local volunteering in Essen-based organisations. Fifteen successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend of €150 for a year, starting in 2026.

The stipend aims to recognize and support young volunteers who dedicate their time to various causes in Essen. Applicants must not already receive other funding. Selection will be by lottery after the application period closes. This is the first year the city of Essen awards this stipend. From 1 May to 31 October 2025, young volunteers in Essen can apply for the 'Ehrenamtsstipendium für junge Engagierte'. Successful applicants will receive a €150 monthly stipend for a year, starting in 2026. This initiative recognizes and supports young people's commitment to their city.
