Event Schedule for Engagement Opportunities

The University of Oxford presents a wealth of academic opportunities for school and college students, with a diverse range of competitions and events aimed at nurturing talent and providing insights into university life.

One such initiative is the British Bangladeshi and Pakistani Programme, an academic endeavour at the University of Oxford. Another programme, the Floreat Humanities Programme, is designed specifically for Year 12 students. The University also organises the Physics and Engineering at Magdalen Programme and the Fibonacci Maths Programme, both targeted at the same age group.

For those with a passion for chemistry, the Future Chemists' Competition offers a practical lab challenge for teams of four pupils from Years 8 and 9 within the Thames Valley region. This free competition takes place over two days at Oxford's Chemistry Teaching Laboratory.

The Oxford Schools' Debating Competition, on the other hand, culminates in a Finals Day where top-performing schools from the UK, Ireland, and international regional rounds compete. This event is an excellent platform for developing public speaking and debating skills for school students.

The Big Think Competition by St Edmund Hall invites UK students to submit responses to tutorial-style academic questions in various disciplines, judged for creativity and insight, with prizes awarded. Meanwhile, the Research Presentation Prize Competition at St Cross College is open to current students who present their Oxford academic research in short talks, evaluated via live voting.

For pre-university students, the OxIQ Essay Contest (Ages 13-15) by The Oxford IQ Academy offers an essay competition with scholarships awarded to students, focusing on academic fields they select.

University staff also participate in outreach events, offering students an opportunity to engage with specific subjects and gain insights into university life. Wadham College, for instance, offers summer schools in Classics, Biology & Human Sciences, and Modern Languages. St Hugh's College conducts a Teachers' Summer School, and St Hugh's Connect offers an Oxbridge Personal Statement Clinic.

The University of Oxford also hosts the Oxford Choral Experience 2025, an upcoming event, and various other events and initiatives are organised by different colleges within the University. These events and competitions are likely to provide valuable opportunities for students to engage with academic subjects and potentially gain insights into university life.

A webinar is available for students that provides an overview of the Oxford admissions process, offering valuable guidance for those considering applying to the prestigious institution. With such a wide array of opportunities available, it's an exciting time for students to explore and engage with the University of Oxford.

The British Bangladeshi and Pakistani Programme, as well as the Floreat Humanities Programme, cater to education-and-self-development and personal-growth through academic pursuits at the University of Oxford. The OxIQ Essay Contest (Ages 13-15) by The Oxford IQ Academy encourages learning by offering scholarships to students engaged in academic fields of their choice.
