Expanded and updated education initiative: Breidert Primary School undergoes modernization and development
Roedermark, Germany, is witnessing a significant transformation as the Breidert Elementary School embarks on a comprehensive modernization project. The initiative, costing around 30 million euros, aims to create a modern and future-oriented educational location.
Mayor Jörg Rotter expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that the new building marks a significant leap forward for local school infrastructure. He also expressed gratitude towards the school community for their patience and tolerance during the construction process.
The school renovation is accommodating an increase in student numbers, with the current attendance of around 190 children expected to rise by about a third. The modernization project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027.
The project will be carried out in two phases, with classes continuing simultaneously to avoid temporary relocation. The first section of the new building will be ready for students to move into at the beginning of 2026. After the first phase, the old building will be demolished to make way for the second construction phase.
The "We are Breidert!" initiative will not only provide improved facilities for the school but also for meetings and events in the future. The new gym will also be accessible to sports clubs.
The topping-out ceremony, marking the next steps of the school modernization project, was attended by District Administrator Oliver Quilling, Deputy District Administrator Alexander Böhner, Mayor Jörg Rotter, School Principal Stefan Wesselmann, and architect Christian Nasedy.
The municipal participation in school-age childcare has been reduced from 4.5 million euros to around three million euros as part of the modernization project. The investment is expected to yield a modern and state-of-the-art educational environment, featuring twelve new classrooms, rooms for woodworking, music, and group activities, and a large sports hall. Additionally, the project includes the construction of additional care facilities for up to 300 children.
