Future Career Academy Kicks Off with Business Panel Series Connecting Students to Local Employers
The Khan Academy has kicked off its annual events with the Business Panel Series, aiming to connect Hillsborough County's high school seniors with local employers. The panels are the first of three major events hosted by the academy each year, with career fairs and hiring events slated for the spring. Launched by Workforce Development Partners, the Business Panel Series brings together students and prominent local companies such as TECO, BayCare Health System, HCA Healthcare, Miller Electric, Mosaic, AdventHealth, and municipal agencies. The goal is to ensure every graduating senior has a clear plan and connections for their future. The program integrates workforce curriculum into English classes, teaching students professional communication, resume writing, and interviewing skills. These job-readiness skills are then put into practice as students meet local companies offering real career opportunities. The initiative is expected to reach seniors from 31 public high schools throughout the county, connecting over 15,000 students with employers in key Tampa industries. The Khan Academy's Business Panel Series marks the start of a comprehensive effort to prepare Hillsborough County's graduating seniors for their future careers. With a focus on job-readiness skills and real-world connections, the program sets students up for success in the local job market.
