In a commendable display of community spirit and environmental consciousness, the city hosted the "City Cleanup" event from March 31 to April 5, 2025. The event, which took place within the city, saw an impressive participation of around 2,514 individuals, including students from 18 schools and members of 16 clubs.

The event culminated in a small refreshment, offering pretzels and sweet treats, and an award ceremony at the Technical Services' depot. During the ceremony, Bettina Drechsler, the deputy head of Technical Services, expressed her delight at the impressive individual results and the awareness of the environment shown by many young participants.

Mayor Peter Boch also emphasized that the increased trash collection in the "City Cleanup" event, which amounted to approximately 55.5 cubic meters - nine cubic meters more than last year - was a fantastic achievement. Each attendee received a "Trash Bert," a giveaway from the Waste Management department, as a token of appreciation for their efforts.

The Pestalozzi School emerged as the winner, collecting eight cubic meters of trash and securing the first place. The Jugendtreff Stadtteilzentrum came in second with four cubic meters of collected trash, while the Insel-Werkrealschule collected three cubic meters of waste and placed third.

While detailed records about participating schools and clubs, or trash collected amounts, for a "City Cleanup 2025" event could not be found in the sources reviewed, it is recommended that those seeking such information check with the city government's recreation, public works, or environmental services departments directly for post-event reports or press releases.

The event, which included students from various schools and members of different clubs, showcased a strong emphasis on environmental-science and education-and-self-development with their active participation in the city's cleanup initiative. Following the event, the winners, such as the Pestalozzi School, Jugendtreff Stadtteilzentrum, and Insel-Werkrealschule, were recognized in the lifestyle category for their significant contributions to maintaining a cleaner and greener city.
