Girl Diagnosed with Blood Cancer Undergoing Chemotherapy, Achieves Top Position in Class 10 Board Exams
In the city of Raipur, Ishika Bala, a resilient 17-year-old, has triumphed over blood cancer and secured the top position in this year's Class 10 board examination in Chhattisgarh with an exceptional score of 99.17%.
Diagnosed with blood cancer in November 2023 while studying in Class 9, Ishika exhibited unwavering determination, deciding to pursue her academic goals relentlessly against all odds. This fruition came despite missing the Class 10 board exams in 2024 as she underwent chemotherapy.
Ishika's journey through treatment saw her study at the Balco Medical Centre in Nava Raipur, facing numerous challenges yet maintaining her scholarly pursuits. Her family, particularly parents Shankar and Iti Bala, and teachers played an instrumental role in supporting her, offering continuous encouragement during her struggle.
"Being faced with severe pain during chemotherapy made it difficult for me to concentrate, but my parents and teachers stood like a rock behind me, constantly boosting my morale," Ishika recounted. With her spirit unbroken and focus unwavering, she managed to generate interest in her studies, ultimately resulting in her spectacular achievement.
Ishika's accomplishment reaches far beyond personal triumph, serving as an inspiration to her community. She shares the top position with Naman Kumar Khuntia from Jashpur district. Her success defies the low female literacy rate prevalent in her district and marks an inspiring milestone for gender equality in education.
Ishika aspires to pursue engineering and has plans to take mathematics in her next class. Aspirations extend further as she aims to become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. Her determination has not gone unnoticed, receiving praise from the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, in recognition of her hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
Meanwhile, another significant development saw a girl from the primitive tribe of Baiga Kangana Baiga top her school in the Class 10 examination in the district of Bharatpur, scoring 83.7%. The Class 10 board examination results for Chhattisgarh were declared in Raipur late on Wednesday evening, marking a testimony to the resilience and determination of students across the region.
Ishika Bala's success in science, education-and-self-development, and personal-growth, despite her health-and-wellness challenges with blood cancer, demonstrates the importance of mental-health and fitness-and-exercise in the pursuit of academic excellence. Her aspiration to study engineering and become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer highlights her commitment to lifelong learning and the intersection of her scholarly pursuits with her goals for career growth and development. The remarkable achievements of students like Ishika and Kangana Baiga in Raipur, despite adversity, underscore the potential for breakthroughs in health-and-wellness, education-and-self-development, and personal-growth when supported by a strong community, including family and teachers.
