The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) held its national conference in Florida, attracting attendees from all across the country. The Kentucky state association, known for its active involvement, was well-represented by students from Newport High School.

During the conference, students attended workshops and participated in competitions that aimed to develop critical skills such as life planning, goal setting, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal communication. These skills are considered essential both in the home and the workplace, directly addressing personal and societal issues students face.

Newport High School students, Jasmine Thompson and Abbagail Rubright, stood out among the attendees, being named Top 10 National Finalists. Abbagail Rubright even secured the 2nd place in the nation in the Job Interview competition, showcasing her exceptional skills in this area.

The conference also provided opportunities for students to network and learn from peers from other regions. A highlight of these interactions was the trading of pins, a tradition that symbolises unity and friendship among FCCLA members.

The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, with over 250,000 student members, operates in more than 5300 chapters. Its focus on Family and Consumer education ensures that its programs are relevant to contemporary society.

In Kentucky, the state association is notably active and focused on helping members cultivate leadership potential and skills. The WKU AAFCS Student Unit supports these activities by leading leadership camps, further enhancing the leadership development of new members at the state level.

Through these activities, Kentucky’s FCCLA empowers students to navigate challenges in their personal lives, prepare for career success, and contribute meaningfully to their communities, embodying the organization's mission to develop strong leaders for family, career, and community roles statewide.
