Dr. Cintia Lantmann Guimaraes Echel, a native of Porto Alegre, Brazil, has made a significant impact in the dental world since graduating from the Eastman Dental School, part of the University of Rochester's Eastman Institute for Oral Health. Her work, particularly in the field of orthodontics, has been innovative and focused on safer treatments for patients with receding gums.
Rochester holds a special place in Dr. Echel's heart, with her favourite spot being the picturesque Village of Fairport at Erie Canal. The city's charm and beauty have undoubtedly added to her inspiring journey.
Dr. Echel's life has been deeply influenced by her parents, who instilled in her the values of hard work, integrity, and empathy. This foundation has been instrumental in her success as a dentist, reflecting in her dedication to her patients and her pursuit of excellence in her field.

One of Dr. Echel's most memorable experiences was during her EIOH residency, where she had the privilege of transforming a patient's smile using dental veneers. This experience, along with her involvement in research projects on genetic markers for dry mouth, cosmetic laminate porcelain veneers, and molar uprighting using double slot brackets, demonstrate her commitment to advancing dental health outcomes.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Echel's passions lie in travel and sports. Her favourite place she has visited is the Greek islands, and she was in awe during a ski trip to Lake Placid in the Adirondack Mountains. She enjoys watching the FIFA World Cup and playing pickleball.
If Dr. Echel could choose another career, she would be a singer, and if she could have a superpower, she would choose the power to fly. Her favourite advice is to keep her body, soul, and mind connected and well balanced, and to enjoy the journey, not just the destination.
After graduation, Dr. Echel plans to move to Florida to start working in a dental office and continue her pursuit of advances in the field. Her fear, however, is not being able to enjoy life with her children and family, a reminder of the importance she places on her personal life and relationships.
