ICSE Class 10 Mass Media and Applications Syllabus for 2025-26 Academic Year Unveiled
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has released the syllabus for the ICSE Class 10 Mass Media and Applications for the upcoming 2025-26 academic year. The syllabus consists of a two-hour theory paper carrying 100 marks and an Internal Assessment of 100 marks.
Communication
The syllabus covers key principles of communication, including irreversible, multi-purpose, interactive, transactional, and punctuated communication. It also delves into barriers and noise in communication, such as physical, psychological, semantic, organizational, and cultural barriers, and how to overcome them. Effective communication principles, known as the 7 Cs, are also part of the syllabus, including clarity, conciseness, concreteness, correctness, coherence, completeness, and courtesy.
Print Media and Design
Students will learn about the anatomy of a newspaper and magazine, including layouts, mastheads, captions, and other essential components.
Photography
Topics related to the basics of photography, including types of cameras, techniques, composition, and usage in media contexts, will be covered.
Television
The syllabus offers a basic understanding of television as a medium of mass communication, production elements, and its role in mass media.
Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC)
The syllabus provides a brief understanding of IMC, its benefits, and direct marketing, with further coverage of advertising, sales promotion, public relations, and personal selling.
Internal Assessment
Candidates must complete a minimum of four assignments during the year, with each assignment being evaluated by both the subject teacher and an External Examiner. The total number of marks for the Internal Assessment is 100.
Examination Details
The theory paper will be a two-hour examination, with 100 marks. The Internal Assessment will carry the same 100 marks.
