In a groundbreaking partnership, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Centre of Science Research and Training of the State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV), and Agribank's Training School have come together to strengthen professional development and drive digital transformation within Vietnam’s banking sector.

The collaboration, which was officially unveiled in a ceremony held on July 3 in Hanoi, symbolised a shared vision of investing in people, raising professional standards, and cultivating future leaders for Vietnam's banking and finance sector.

The partnership's primary aim is to enhance the skills and competencies of accounting and auditing professionals in the banking industry, supporting their ongoing professional growth and adherence to international best practices. This is achieved through a series of training courses, including the IFRS Banking Complete Pack, held in April, the Certificate in Sustainability for Finance, held in May, and the Digital Finance Essentials, held in June.

The IFRS Banking Complete Pack focused on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), emphasising both global knowledge and practical insights from the SAV in the banking sector. The Certificate in Sustainability for Finance, on the other hand, delved into environmental, social, and governance goals. The Digital Finance Essentials provided a comprehensive look at technology's role in modern finance and accounting.

The ceremonies, which recognised individual learning achievements, highlighted the importance of enhancing professional competence tied to global integration. Ren Varma, ACCA's head of mainland Southeast Asia, presented certificates to Agribank participants of the three training courses.

The training programme is exceptionally practical and well-suited to Agribank's direction in the digital era. Le Thi Thu Ha, deputy head of Agribank's Financial Institution Department, expressed her appreciation for the internationally recognised certificate from ACCA. Doan Ngoc Luu, deputy CEO of Agribank, highlighted the importance of human capital in technology-driven banking reforms and innovations.

The partnership also aims to support the digital transformation journey of the Vietnamese banking sector, helping to modernise financial reporting, auditing, and governance processes using advanced technology. This is crucial in promoting improved corporate governance and transparency through upskilling and adoption of digital tools tailored for the banking environment.

Agribank's robust, long-range talent strategy was emphasised, aiming to build a professional finance team aligned with global standards and digital trends. The courses are designed to bring new management approaches and prepare Agribank staff to integrate professionally and meet international benchmarks.

The ceremonies also underscored all parties' determination to promote transparency, sustainability, and digital transformation in Vietnam's financial and banking sector. The collaboration between ACCA, SAV, and Agribank is a strategic move to build capacity within the Vietnamese banking audit and accounting workforce, while accelerating digital adoption to meet evolving global and regional financial demands.

Experts and trainees from all three institutions, as well as representatives from the British Embassy in Vietnam and BritCham Vietnam, attended the ceremony. This partnership represents a significant step forward in Vietnam's pursuit of a technologically advanced and globally competitive banking sector.

In this partnership, the focus is not only on strengthening professional development within Vietnam's banking sector but also expanding it to encompass education-and-self-development opportunities in business and finance. For instance, the Digital Finance Essentials course offered insights into the role of technology in modern finance and accounting, fostering digital transformation.

The collaboration further aims to assist in the finance sector's digital transformation, with a particular emphasis on education and the adoption of advanced technology for modernizing financial reporting, auditing, and governance processes. This strategy aligns with Agribank's long-range talent strategy to build a professional finance team that meets international benchmarks and adheres to global standards in both business and education-and-self-development.
