Interactive Family Health Resource Center
In the heart of Bamberg, a city known for its rich history and culture, the "Klarwerk - wenn alles scheiße ist" program, a joint initiative providing crucial psychological support for children, young people, and families, recently hosted an event aimed at promoting health and well-being.
The event, a MiMi Health Day as part of the meeteinander project's leisure festival, held at the Ost Youth Center, saw the presence of the Intercultural Health Project MiMi-Bayern - "With Migrants for Migrants." This project, operated by the Ethno-Medical Center e.V., has been a staple in Bamberg for 13 years, working tirelessly to promote the health literacy of migrants through multilingual and culturally sensitive information.
Marina Glasunova, Anca Marza, Tatjana Schell, Yvonne Rüttger (project coordinator), and Sarah Scheller from the Bamberg Health Department were on hand to answer questions and provide information. Their presence underscored the longstanding cooperation between the Bamberg Health Department and the MiMi project.
The day was filled with engaging activities designed to educate and inform. An oversized tooth model was used to demonstrate dental hygiene skills using a giant toothbrush, while a mega floor newspaper with a quiz allowed participants to test their knowledge about Hepatitis C. A sugar exhibition, where food and drinks were displayed with the corresponding number of sugar cubes hidden inside, served as a thought-provoking reminder of the hidden sugars in our diets.
Conversations focused on low-threshold health offers for families in the Bamberg region, including the mental health of children and young people. MiMi-Bayern, funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care, and Prevention, as well as supported by MSD Sharp & Dohme GmbH, is at the forefront of these efforts.

For comprehensive, free, and confidential support for all questions related to pregnancy, birth, family planning, and life with a child, the state-recognized counseling center for pregnancy questions at the Bamberg District Office is available.
The coordination office at the Bamberg City Office for Inclusion, in cooperation with the Bamberg Health Department, has trained numerous intercultural MiMi mediators. These mediators, who are available to answer questions and provide information in 15 languages, including Arabic, Armenian, Chinese, German, English, French, Kurdish, Persian, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, and Ukrainian, make the project accessible to a wide range of individuals. Interpreters can be provided for other languages.
The MiMi-Info Events, typically held in a group setting, are a testament to the project's commitment to providing essential information and support to those who need it most. As Bamberg continues to welcome and support a diverse community, the MiMi-Bayern project remains a vital resource for families seeking health and wellness information.
