Isuzu Motors South Africa reveals Advanced AI, Programming, and Robotics Facility at Astra Primary School

Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSAf) has made a significant stride in empowering young learners with future-ready STEM skills by launching a state-of-the-art AI, Coding & Robotics Centre at Astra Primary School in Gqeberha.

The centre, developed in partnership with Sifiso EdTech and supported by the LPR Group, is designed to provide learners with an immersive learning experience in artificial intelligence, coding, and robotics. With a total investment exceeding R1.2 million, the facility includes robotics kits, laptops, tablets, advanced coding software, and a fully customised computer lab.

This initiative is part of IMSAf's broader mission of aligning classroom learning with the demands of the future workforce. By equipping learners from an underserved area with critical skills aligned with the digital economy, the centre aims to improve educational outcomes and open pathways to technology careers.

The centre aligns with global trends in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education. It offers immersive five-day teacher training workshops, structured lesson plans, assessments, and 12 months of educator support. The centre's curriculum is CAPS-aligned, ensuring that learners receive a comprehensive education in coding and robotics.

Dr Sizwe Nxasana, CEO of Sifiso EdTech, believes the centre supports young people to develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Lutho Kota, Eastern Cape Education Department Director for e-Teaching and e-Learning, stated that the centre redefines the learning experience for children.

Isuzu Motors South Africa acknowledges the R50,000 contribution from the LPR Group towards this project, reflecting a shared commitment to expanding educational opportunities in Gqeberha. The centre also aims to give learners early exposure to future-facing technologies, helping them become creators of technology rather than mere consumers.

The centre will host robotics competitions and coding showcases, promoting learner engagement and community pride. By fostering early interest and competence in AI and robotics fields, which tend to be underserved in similar communities, the centre sets learners on a path towards becoming active participants in a rapidly changing and digitally driven world.

In summary, the Astra Primary School AI, Coding & Robotics Centre by Isuzu Motors South Africa represents a forward-looking educational intervention with significant community impact. The centre serves as a potential model for expanding technological education in underserved regions, demonstrating a replicable model for future school rollouts in similar areas.
