Lower Austria's Military Leads in Protecting Cultural Heritage

Lower Austria's Military Command, led by Brigadier Georg Haertinger since 2024, has taken a pioneering role in protecting military cultural heritage. A traveling exhibition, currently on display until January 29, showcases this important work and is open to educational groups.

The exhibition, housed in a transformed part of the Hesserkaserne in St. Pölten, demonstrates the military's commitment to safeguarding art and artifacts in times of conflict or disaster. Brigadier Haertinger emphasizes the significance of this task in both domestic and foreign operations.

Contributing to this effort is Anna Kaiser, a reserve officer and head of the specialized disaster relief unit of the Austrian Armed Forces. She also lends her expertise as the head of the Center for Cultural Heritage Protection at the University of Continuing Education Krems. The university, under the leadership of Rector Eva Werner, has a dedicated faculty for education, art, and architecture, headed by Dr. Anna Maria Kaiser.

The traveling exhibition offers a unique insight into the military's role in cultural heritage protection. With experts like Anna Kaiser involved, both in the military and academia, this vital task is in capable hands. The exhibition runs until January 29, providing an opportunity for interested groups to learn more.
