Month-long Police Community Relations initiative culminates with a renewed emphasis on unity

The 30th Police Community Relations (PCR) Month celebration in Western Visayas came to a successful close on July 31, 2025, with a ceremony held at the PRO 6 Multi-Purpose Hall, Fort San Pedro, Iloilo City. The event, organised by the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), aimed to emphasize the importance of unity between the police and the community.

The PCR Month celebration is an annual event that focuses on strengthening police-community relationships, promoting peace and order, and encouraging cooperation and trust between law enforcement and citizens. This year's theme, "Sa Bagong Pilipinas, ang Gusto ng Pulis, Ligtas Ka!", encapsulates the police's commitment to ensuring the safety of all citizens.

During the ceremony, several outstanding police units, personnel, and stakeholders were recognised for their contributions to police-community relations, public trust, and safety in Western Visayas. Among the awardees were Police Master Sergeant Robelyn Camano, named Outstanding PCAD Senior Police Non-Commissioned Officer (PNCO) for CY 2025, and Police Colonel Albert Tapulao, who received the Outstanding Police Community Affairs Division (PCAD) Senior Police Commissioned Officer award for the same year.

The Regional Community Affairs and Development Division (RCADD) was also honoured with the Best Social Media Team (Public Information Division) award. Other notable awardees include Police Lieutenant Colonel Benjo Clarite, who received the Outstanding PCAD Junior PCO award, and Police Staff Sergeant Renante S. Siaotong, named Outstanding PCAD Junior PNCO for CY 2025.

Lambunao Municipal Police Station (MPS) was recognised as Outstanding MPS for CY 2025, while Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) was named Outstanding Provincial Police Office for the same year. Barangay Manika, Libacao, Aklan's Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay (RPSB) Team was also honoured as Outstanding RPSB Team.

Former Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas was honoured as a Stakeholder Awardee. The Office of the Civil Defense 6, led by Director Raul E. Fernandez, who served as the guest of honour and speaker at the ceremony, shares the same goal as PRO 6, which is to ensure the safety of all citizens.

Throughout July, PRO 6 and its provincial and city offices conducted a series of community-centered activities, including outreach programs, clean-up drives, youth forums, bloodletting activities, public dialogues, and school symposiums. These activities reflect PRO 6's dedication to promoting meaningful community involvement and fostering a strong partnership with the public.

In his message, Director Fernandez praised the dedication of PRO 6 in promoting community involvement and emphasized the role of inter-agency collaboration in ensuring peace, security, and disaster resilience. A special feature during the culmination program was a set of live simulation exercises demonstrating the operational preparedness and rapid response of PRO 6 personnel.

In conclusion, the 30th PCR Month celebration in Western Visayas underscored the importance of unity and community partnership in achieving a safer and more secure region. The ceremony celebrated the police's ongoing efforts in community relations and public service, and recognised those who have made significant contributions in this area.
