Netflix in collaboration with IIM initiate virtual production training program for women

The Institute of Immersive Media (IIM) and streaming giant Netflix have joined forces to launch a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering women working in Europe's creative industries. The Women's Virtual Production Training program is designed to equip women with the skills necessary to excel in the cutting-edge field of virtual production, where they are currently underrepresented.

Through this partnership, Netflix aims to support women who are already excelling in their fields, helping them to maximise their potential as they continue to do what they do best. The program will provide accessible education, mentorship, and training for women in virtual production, with a focus on diversifying their skills and broadening career opportunities.

The training will take place in Berlin, Warsaw, and Madrid, offering participants the chance to learn from industry leaders and network with a community of peers. The training period is set for October to December 2025, with the deadline for candidates to submit applications on August 3, 2025. Interested individuals can apply through the official IIM training page at iim.one/vptraining.

IIM's primary mission remains unchanged: to address the gender gap in virtual production through education, mentorship, and training for women. This program is a unique opportunity for existing women in film and entertainment talent to learn from the best in the industry and take their careers to new heights.

Anna Mallett, VP of production at Netflix EMEA, stated that the partnership with IIM is committed to growing the skills of industry talent and fostering a professional network of peers. Mallett also mentioned that virtual production is unlocking exciting possibilities for creators, giving them more choices and freedom than ever before.

The Women's Virtual Production Training initiative is expected to contribute significantly to increasing representation of women in the field of virtual production in Europe. By equipping women with the necessary skills, the program aims to broaden the horizons of the television and film production industry, supporting diversity and inclusion by enabling more women to work in the evolving virtual production sector.

Through this partnership, education, mentorship, and training in virtual production will be made available to women, fostering career growth in the entertainment industry and contributing to an increased presence of women in the evolving field of virtual production. This program will not only provide a unique opportunity for women to learn from industry leaders but also help diversify skills, broaden career opportunities, and align with the Institute of Immersive Media's mission to address the gender gap in this innovative technology-driven sector.
