PM Shahbaz to Announce Saudi Arabia Collaboration Priorities in Agriculture
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is set to visit Saudi Arabia, where he will announce collaboration priorities and objectives. The exact timing of this announcement has not been disclosed. Saudi Arabia has expressed interest in investing in Pakistan's agriculture sector, with specific projects planned until December 2025.
Saudi Arabia's investment focus includes livestock, contract farming, and dried camel milk exports. This interest comes amidst Pakistan and Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to strengthen economic cooperation. In October 2024, the two countries signed 34 MoUs worth $2.8 billion, building on the defense pact signed in September.
In parallel, Pakistan is collaborating with China to integrate advanced satellite systems and data collection tools. This initiative aims to provide real-time, accurate data on crop yields and food security. Looking ahead, under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor's (CPEC) second phase, Pakistan will prioritize agriculture technology transfer, infrastructure development, and farmer training.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif's visit to Saudi Arabia is expected to bring significant announcements in enhancing economic cooperation. Saudi Arabia's interest in Pakistan's agriculture sector, coupled with Pakistan's technological advancements and CPEC's second phase, signals a promising future for bilateral relations and Pakistan's agricultural industry.
