Portugal Fashion Makes Paris Debut With Innovative Designers
Portugal Fashion is making waves at Paris Fashion Week, with a showroom debuting on October 4th. This initiative, over a year in planning, aims to build a new brand for Portuguese fashion and support up-and-coming designers.
The showroom, divided into two areas, caters to both young designers seeking professional growth and established brands ready for export. It features an impressive lineup, including Lo Siento, Veehana, and Maria Carlos Baptista.
Veehana, led by Joao Viana, is praised for its innovative materials and formats. Maria Carlos Baptista, a former ballerina, infuses her designs with sustainability and dance influences. Both Lo Siento and Veehana challenge gender norms with their 'streetwear' collections.
The inauguration drew significant attention, with passersby stopping to admire photography sessions of models dressed in the designers' creations. Monica Neto, director of Portugal Fashion, believes in the strength of the 'created in Portugal' brand, as the country transitions from craftsmanship to creativity.
With a strong lineup of emerging designers and a strategic plan to establish a regular presence in Paris, Portugal Fashion is poised to generate credibility and interest within the professional fashion community. The initiative, supported by Portugal Fashion, aims to provide visibility and market contact opportunities for starting Portuguese brands, as highlighted by Jose Vieira from Lo Siento.
