Primary School Löhne-Obernbeck recognized as a "Healthy School"

The Ev. Grundschule Lohne-Obernbeck has been recognised as a "Healthy School" in the Wittekind Circle, following an award ceremony held recently. The school was commended for its efforts in promoting health and wellbeing among students and staff.

At the ceremony, teacher Katrin Wessel and her colleague Daniel Gieselmann were honoured for their dedication to the cause. Pascal Kramer, a sports scientist, was also present and led some students through exercises as part of the "link moves" program. These exercises, designed to improve coordination, concentration, learning ability, and motivation, can be particularly beneficial for students during stressful learning phases.

The "Healthy Schools in the Wittekind Circle" program, supported by the district health department for nine years, offers schools support in implementing offers and activities on the topics of health promotion and prevention. This year, the Elisabeth-von-der-Pfalz-Berufskolleg in Herford, the Grundschule in Westerenger, and the Erich-Kästner-Gesamtschule with its locations in Bünde and Kirchlengern will also be honoured.

Schools that receive the award have implemented at least three health-promoting measures and one measure for the health of teaching staff during the project period. The program also provides an overview of contact points in the Herford district that advise young people, parents, and teaching staff on the topic of "growing up and teaching healthily".

For those interested in the "Healthy Schools" program for the current school year, more information can be found on the business office of the Health Conference's website (www.unser website/Kommunale-Gesundheitskonferenz/) or by contacting project leader Renata Lleshi at 05221 13-2419 or via email at r.lleshi@unser website.

Renata Lleshi, an employee of the district health department, was present in Lohne-Obernbeck for the award ceremony. The Health Conference website also offers helpful information about free individual and group offers for students and teaching staff.

In addition to the award ceremony, the Grundschule Lohne-Obernbeck has been dealing with topics such as dental health, healthy nutrition, and social training with the support of external experts. This holistic approach to health and wellbeing is considered a central prerequisite for successful learning, personal development, and social participation.
