Projection Mapping Makes Debut at Our Institution, Showcasing its Enchanting Artistry
On March 19, 2021, the auditorium at an unspecified institution hosted its first-ever projection mapping show for the campus. The event, organised by Christoph Schuckert from the Magic Stage, featured digital narratives presented by students from the Communication Design department.
One of the standout projects was "Bindu", a collaboration between Level-4 Communication Design Students and Aman Arora’s Magical Theatre. This digital narrative tells a unique story about a dot named Bindu, who takes lakir (line), akriti (shape), and akar (form) under her wings.
"Bindu" is a surrealistic portrayal of an aspiring designer's life, as implied by 'In the Clouds'. The narrative addresses themes of resource management and waste reduction, as hinted by 'Dustnaane-Ki-Daastan'. It aims to evoke feelings of creativity and renewal, as suggested by the hope for a brighter future after a tough year, and celebrates diversity, as suggested by 'Ends Meet'.
The auditorium walls and the institution's logo were used as surfaces for the projection mapping. Each team worked on illustration, art, photography, culture, music, and sound aspects of their digital narrative, with technical support from the Magical Theatre team.
The show also included another project titled "How you Blobbin'?", a melodramatic comical ride through lines, colors, and shapes to discover an identifiable form for itself.
Each of the videos on display were created by five student teams, each consisting of five students. The projects were part of a weeklong workshop-based project called "The Magic of Communication".
The digital narratives were a testament to the creativity, hard work, and dedication of the students, and the event was a success, marking a memorable milestone for the Communication Design department at the institution.
