PUB Singapore Funds 14 Coastal Protection Projects Worth $22M
PUB Singapore has awarded 14 projects under its first Applied Research grant call for Coastal Protection and Flood Management. Worth $22 million, these projects span five focus areas and involve collaboration between Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and industry players.
The funded projects aim to advance knowledge in coastal protection and flood management, tailored to Singapore's context. They focus on Sustainable Materials for Coastal Protection Infrastructure, Smart Structural Health Monitoring Systems, Comprehensive Decision Matrices for Adaptive Planning, Innovative Engineering Solutions, and Monitoring Techniques for Sediment Transport.
PUB's Director of Coastal Protection, Hazel Khoo, hailed these projects as a significant milestone in PUB's R&D journey. Upon completion, the projects could transition to CFRP's Living Lab programme for further testing and potential commercialisation.
PUB's grant call received 47 proposals, with two-thirds involving IHL-industry collaborations. The 14 funded projects, totalling $22 million, represent a substantial investment in Singapore's coastal protection and flood management future.
