Ready for Gymnasium: First Mentor Info Event Set for Oct 15, 2025

The 'Ready for Gymnasium' project, a collaboration between the City of Düsseldorf's Communal Integration Centre and the Ilse Bagel Foundation since 2022, is set to host its first informational event for new mentors on October 15, 2025. The project supports children with refugee and immigration backgrounds during their transition from primary to high school.

Interested individuals can register for the information events by emailing [email protected] or [email protected]. The events will provide insights into the project and how volunteer mentors can help high school and project-appropriate mentees, usually selected in the 4th grade, navigate the German school system and registration processes. Ersilia Borchers-Oliviero and Mira Gripp from the Communal Integration Centre serve as contacts for volunteers and organise training events for mentors and joint meetings for mentees.

Two information events are scheduled: one on Wednesday, 6 November 2024, at 7 pm, and another on Thursday, 7 November, at the Evangelical Youth Centre of the Dankeskirche in Benrath.

The 'Ready for Gymnasium' project aims to foster the potential of children with refugee and immigration backgrounds and serve as a point of contact for their families. The upcoming information events offer a chance for potential mentors to learn more about the project and contribute to its mission.
