As the countdown to the start of the new school year at SCSD#3 continues, Superintendent Chase Christensen is emphasizing the continuous improvement and refinement of teaching within the district. The school year is set to begin on Monday, August 18, with staff returning to work on Tuesday.

In preparation for the new school year, SCSD#3 has made some changes over the summer. The district completed a project to re-paint the gym and add new bleachers. This renovation will be unveiled at a community back-to-school celebration, known as the "One Claw" house party, taking place on August 14, from 4 to 6:30 PM, at A/C School.

The event will feature food, music by DJ Mike Guyer, and Superintendent Chase Christensen cooking hamburgers. It will also mark the unveiling of the newly repainted gym. The One Claw House System at A/C School fosters unity, character, and healthy competition by connecting students across grades into six houses that together form One Claw.

This year, two new elementary houses, Koa and Meraki, have been added to the system. At the party, elementary students will be sorted into these new houses. House Koa is affiliated with Beowulf, Herculean, and Fiducia houses, while House Meraki is affiliated with Indomitus, Tapferkeit, and Iaspis.

The elementary houses, also called "Cub" houses, will have Hawaiian-themed Koa house supervisors (teachers Alicia Auzqui, Mandi Buchanan, and Samantha Grubb) who will explain their house at the event. The House system emphasizes belonging, leadership, teamwork, and service across all grade levels.

Superintendent Chase Christensen expressed excitement about continuing the work started over the last couple of years at SCSD#3. Despite not mentioning any specific changes or new initiatives for the upcoming school year, he stated that they will start the new school year by working hard on day one.

Attendance for the school district is expected to be similar to last year's numbers. Teachers at SCSD#3 are continuing to refine their craft and improve daily, as previously mentioned. The goal for SCSD#3 is to have a successful and productive school year.
