Rödermark Launches 'LEON Help Islands' for Children's Safety
The city of Rödermark has launched the 'LEON Help Islands' project, aiming to provide children with safe havens on their way to school or home. The initiative, patronised by the Hessian police's mascot, the lion Leon, has received backing from Mayor Andrea Schülner. Businesses can still register to participate, with interested parties able to contact [email protected].
The 'LEON Help Islands' project equips participating businesses and facilities with distinctive stickers, alerting children to safe spaces where they can seek help. Employees in these marked locations are trained to offer calm and security to children facing everyday challenges or critical situations, from minor issues to serious threats.
Andrea Gotta, owner of 'Blumenstudio Andrea', has already agreed to participate in the project. Mayor Schülner emphasises the importance of children knowing such safe places instead of approaching strangers. The city hopes more businesses will join the initiative to expand its reach and provide further support to children navigating daily life in Rödermark.
The 'LEON Help Islands' project is open to businesses in Rödermark looking to contribute to child safety. With Mayor Schülner's endorsement and the support of local businesses like 'Blumenstudio Andrea', the initiative aims to create a network of safe havens for children throughout the city.
