Santander Invests €2.4 Billion in Education, Empowering 3.7M People

Santander has committed over EUR 2.4 billion to education, employability, and entrepreneurship, benefiting over 3.7 million people and businesses. The bank has partnered with nearly 1,100 universities and institutions to provide access to over 80 courses through the Santander Open Academy.

The initiative aims to bridge emerging job market needs with available talent, as stated by Ramon Rodriguez, Global Head of Santander Open Academy. Beneficiaries will have a year's access to courses focusing on in-demand skills such as artificial intelligence, leadership, and languages. No university degree or Santander customer status is required to apply.

The courses are offered through Coursera, one of the largest online learning platforms worldwide. With over 183 million registered learners and partnerships with over 350 leading university and industry partners, Coursera ensures high-quality learning. Beneficiaries can undertake as many courses as they wish at their own pace and receive a certificate after each one. The deadline for registration is 9 December on the Santander Open Academy website.

Eight out of ten participants in Santander's 'Tomorrow's skills' report feel the need to continue broadening their skill set, emphasizing the importance of lifelong learning. In line with this, Santander Open Academy has partnered with Coursera to provide 50,000 adults in 13 countries with free access to the 'Curso Santander | Skills for Work' course. Zac Rule, Vice President of North America, Enterprise at Coursera, expressed that the partnership extends access to high-quality online training in key areas.

Santander's investment in education and employability, along with its partnership with Coursera, is set to empower over 50,000 adults worldwide with market-relevant skills. The initiative underscores the importance of lifelong learning and adaptability in the job market.
