A Rising Tide of Violent Threats Against Schools in Saxony-Anhalt
Increased menaces towards schools in Saxony-Anhalt persist. - School threats escalate in Saxony-Anhalt, authorities brace for potential attacks.
Hey there! Let's talk about a concerning topic that's been making waves recently - threats against schools in the region of Saxony-Anhalt.
Looks like the hospitals have been seeing a steady increase in reported cases over the past few years. Last year, an unnerving 31 incidents were recorded, compared to 21 in 2022, and a mere 12 in 2021 (as per local police data). It ain't always about bomb threats, either – these threatening behaviors fall under the category "Disruption of public peace by threat of crimes at the school scene."
Now, this year's a real doozy. The cops have recorded a whopping 19 cases as of May 30th, with 11 happening just in May. Apparently, there was this wave of sinister emails flooding schools across the nation.
As of now, we got six folks in the sights of the law, but those numbers ain't final yet.
Who's behind these threats, though? The LKA (the Land Criminal Police Office) reported a 75% clearance rate last year. In previous years, it hovered between 83.3% and 93.8%.
In last year’s instances, the cops managed to ID 32 suspects. Out of these, over half were minors, with about 15 falling between the ages of 14 and 18. Only one adult was identified, along with two individuals aged 18 to 21.
So who are these little (and not-so-little) troublemakers? Guess what? The usual suspects have been students themselves. You've got your suspects list including two girls, the rest – boys and men.
Now, we've got some nationwide news to share. A week back, schools across the country received some threatening emails. In places like Thuringia, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Rhineland-Palatinate, the numbers reached 36, 285, and over 50, respectively. The Emails threatened that a bomb had been planted, and it'd go BOOM at a specific time.
Seems like this ain't an isolated incident. A spokesperson from the Police Inspectorate in Magdeburg pointed out, "Investigations have revealed that this is a nationwide problem, and similar emails have been received at other schools. Luckily, there's no indication yet that these threats are genuine. Schools that get hit with these threats should contact the cops ASAP to ensure appropriate safety measures are put in place"> promptly.

[1] Keep in mind we had a few incidents last year like the Solingen Festival Attack by Isaa Al H, and a plot in North Rhine-Westphalia involving four radical teenagers. They were planning on attacking police headquarters and places of worship, got em radicalized through some online Islamic State propaganda. Might not be directly linked, just food for thought.
In light of the increasing threats against schools in Saxony-Anhalt, it's crucial for community members to familiarize themselves with the region's policy on such matters. To help combat this issue, there could be a focus on vocational training programs aimed at education-and-self-development, particularly in the field of cybersecurity, to empower individuals in identifying and reporting potential threats.
Meanwhile, following the nationwide wave of threatening emails to schools, it would be beneficial to share general-news articles about such incidents to raise awareness and promote a safe learning environment for everyone. Additionally, keeping the public informed about crime-and-justice updates related to the investigations and arrests of the threat makers would be essential in maintaining trust and confidence within the community.
