Schools and universities in Ekaterinburg are all set for the upcoming academic season
Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Tagil are gearing up for the new academic year, with over 167 schools, 337 kindergartens, and 87 institutions of additional education preparing to open their doors on September 1, 2025.
The educational institutions have undergone necessary inspections to ensure compliance with sanitary norms, safety measures, and repairs. This includes major renovations at Kindergarten No. 12 in the Lenin district and Kindergarten No. 487 in the Railway district, which are set to open in 2027.
A total of 210,320 schoolchildren (including 24,611 first-graders) and 78,603 kindergarten children will commence their academic year on September 1, 2025. Among the schools opening in September are School No. 87 in the Chkalov district, with a capacity of 750 students, and School No. 72 in the Ordzhonikidze district, with a capacity of 520 students. Kindergarten No. 188 in the Chkalov district will also start operating after major repairs in December of this year.
In addition to schools and kindergartens, 34 cultural institutions, 29 sports organisations, and 8 institutions related to youth policy are also prepared for the new academic year. Notable among these is Kindergarten No. 34, which has a new building with a capacity of 300 students.
Work at Educational Institution No. 52 in the Chkalov district is scheduled to be completed by December of this year. Kindergarten No. 114 in the Lenin district will also open with modern buildings.
