Senior Bicyclists Guidance in Leverkusen: Navigating Active Cycling for Those Age 60 and Above

On October 8, the Cologne Police is hosting a free bike tour in Leverkusen, aimed at individuals aged 60 and above. The event, which starts at 10:00 AM at the Ostermann-Arena, is designed to sensitize this age group to the challenges of road traffic and instill more security and confidence in their cycling abilities.

Participants will gather at the Ostermann-Arena, the meeting point for the tour. The ADFC Leverkusen will check the brought-along bicycles/e-bikes for roadworthiness and accompany the tour.

The focus of the tour is on safe cycling in typical traffic situations. During the tour, participants will learn about traffic rules and road signs, and accompanying police officers will provide practical tips, including about the "danger zone of trucks" and behavior at intersections.

Experts in traffic accident prevention will offer free helmet advice before the tour. The positive response to the first event in Cologne has shown a great need in this target group.

Registration is required for the bike tour, and spaces are limited. Interested parties can register by phone at 0221/229-6060 or by email at [email protected].

The city of Leverkusen and the ADFC Leverkusen are supporting this event. For more information, visit the official website at https://koeln.polizei.nrw. Press inquiries should be directed to the Police Headquarters Cologne Press Office at 0221/229 5555 or [email protected].

It's important to note that participation is only possible with a helmet, sturdy footwear, and your own bicycle. The tour will cover approximately 8 kilometers, making it an enjoyable and informative experience for all participants.
