Three local governing bodies, alongside a music institution: Dietzenbach, Egelsbach, Langen, and a musical school.

Repurposed and Refreshed:

Three German cities, Dietzenbach, Egelsbach, and Langen, are teaming up to create a centralized music education hub. The goal is to merge their independent music schools under the wing of a non-profit company (GmbH), in response to legal changes affecting municipal music schools. This move, called "Herrenberg ruling," has sparked organizational and financial challenges across many cities and municipalities.

Union for All Age Groups

At its core, the imagined inter-city music school will cater to the entire musical education spectrum - from nurturing young minds to fostering adult education, and collaborating with schools. The integration will not only preserve, but also expand, existing partnerships with schools.

Synergies and State Aid

The proposed central administrative unit will oversee the school's organizational and financial operations, with the added advantage of applying for state funding in Hesse, should the political bodies support the endeavor. Decisions regarding this support are set for June 26 in Langen, June 27 in Dietzenbach, and July 3 in Egelsbach.

Political Consensus

Preliminary discussions reportedly went smoothly, with the mayors of the three cities emphasizing their confidence in the proposed non-profit GmbH as an effective response to the "Herrenberg ruling" challenges. Despite reports of these meetings, it's important to note that none of the three music schools are immediately threatened with closure.
