Together Women Rise Marks International Day of the Girl with Star-Studded Event

Together Women Rise is hosting a significant event on October 11 to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child. The public gathering, organized through Eventbrite, will feature notable speakers, live music, and a special tribute to a dedicated gender equality advocate. Meanwhile, the Virginia Railway Express has postponed a major milestone celebration due to the ongoing government shutdown.

The event, held in Alexandria and available on Eventbrite, will honour Tara O'Connor LaRose with the inaugural Award for Exemplary Service. LaRose has been a steadfast champion for gender equality. The organisation also plans to unveil its 'Rise to Meet the Moment' campaign, a response to dwindling government support for foreign aid and gender equality programs. Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased online through Eventbrite.

The federal government shutdown, which began today at 12:01 a.m., has led to the postponement of the Virginia Railway Express' celebration of its 100 millionth rider. Alexandria has set up a resource page to assist residents affected by the shutdown.

The International Day of the Girl Child event promises to be an inspiring gathering, celebrating achievements and rallying support for gender equality. Meanwhile, the Virginia Railway Express looks forward to rescheduling its milestone celebration once the government shutdown is resolved.
