VU Makes History: First Australian Uni in India with 2027 Delhi Campus
Victoria University (VU) has made history by becoming the first Australian university to secure a licence from the Indian government to establish a full-scale campus in the Delhi National Capital Region. This significant development is set to strengthen Australia-India education ties and support the Indian government's National Education Policy (NEP) goals.
VU, which pioneered the Block Model in Australia, will introduce this distinctive learning approach to Indian students. The new campus, slated to open by 2027, will offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs tailored to meet Indian industry needs. Planning and partnership development with local collaborators will continue over the next two years.
VU Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global), Monty Singh, welcomed the announcement, stating that it is a significant step forward in the university's international strategy. Professor John Germov, VU's Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer, looks forward to contributing to India's growing knowledge economy.
With this licence, VU joins other Australian universities expanding in the region. The new campus is expected to foster academic exchange, promote cultural understanding, and support India's modernisation of its education sector as outlined in the NEP.
