Yakutia Celebrates 85 Years of Secondary Professional Education

Today marks the 85th anniversary of the system of professional education in Yakutia. Greetings were sent by President Vladimir Putin and Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov to celebrate the occasion. A solemn event, 'SPOfest-2025', was held in Yakutsk, attended by representatives from all colleges and technical schools in the region.

The history of professional education in Yakutia began in 1930 with mass courses to train rural mechanizers. By the 1950s, two professional and technical schools were established to train personnel for river transport. In the same decade, a training combine for shoemakers and tailors was created, later reorganized into a professional and technical school in 1955. Today, 42 educational institutions serve about 25,000 students.

The anniversary event was attended by Galina Danchikova, a deputy of the State Duma, who congratulated students, teachers, and veterans. The event highlighted the evolution of the system, from its early beginnings to its current form, which has adapted to meet the demands of complex professions, particularly in the 1970s.

The 85th anniversary of professional education in Yakutia is a testament to the system's growth and resilience. From training rural mechanizers in 1930 to serving 25,000 students today, the system has evolved to meet the needs of the region's workforce. As the system looks to the future, it does so with a strong foundation built over eight and a half decades.
